MADAWASKA, Maine 鈥?An 83-y stanley cup ear-old Madawaska woman is dead after her car was broadsided Monday afternoon by a loaded logging truck on Main Street.Madawaska police Sgt. Ross DuBois said Tuesday that Rella Cyr, 83, was southbound on the roadway at approximately 2:35 p.m. near the Grand Isle and Madawaska town line when the crash occurred.Brian Voisine, 50, of Fort Kent also was headed south, behind Cyr as she drove her 2001 Nissan Altima, according to Dubois.When Cyr attempted to turn left into a church, however, Voisine was unable to stop the 2010 Western Star logging truck and broadsided the car. The truck is owned by J.R.S. Logging of Fort Kent.Due to her severe injuries, Cyr was transported by the Madawaska Ambulance Department stanley cup to the nearest hospital in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, but she died a short time later.Voisine was not injured.Dubois said police are still investigating why Voisine could not stop the logging truck. Warden Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Maine Warden Service is reconstructing the crash.
