The Crown sought remand for both accused but defense counsel Norman Rodriguez submitted that his interpretation of the law is that rape is not included as one of those crimes listed under the Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act where no bail can be granted at Magistrate Court level.The presiding Senior Magistrate denied bail to Reneau and remanded him to the Belize Central Prison; however, the minor case for bail consideration was adjourned for Wednesday, January 17, and he was remanded to the Wagners Youth Facility. The 16-year-old co-accused and the victim reportedly go to the same school on the North Side of Belize City.
